M Social Hotel Offers Excellent Stay Near Heart of Times Square

When I went in search of a place to stay while in New York City, I wanted a hotel that was:

  1. Safe
  2. Clean
  3. Affordable
  4. Close to Everything We Wanted to Visit and/or Close to a Way to Get to those Places

I’ll be the first to admit that we lucked out with M Social Hotel for a couple reasons. The facility had recently undergone a renovation and was either bought out by Millennium Hotels or rebranded? I am not sure. But M Social was a new name on the block and to celebrate the rebrand they were offering inaugural stay specials. So to say I got a steal on this hotel stay is an understatement. I booked directly with Millennium and paid a fantastic rate that put us up near the heart of Times Square for less than $1000 for the whole week. This total doesn’t include what we spent on things like room service (that was part of our food budget) but this total DID include all the fees.

Another reason we lucked out is because the M Social Hotel fulfilled every one of my requirements listed above. Times Square – well, New York City in general – isn’t quiet. But Times Square in particular not only has noise but bright lights and lots of commotion that can be very distracting. M Social is situated at the northern tip of Times Square which made it perfect. We could see it. We could almost touch it. But we were far enough away that it felt like we were in the more laid back part of the city. M Social Hotel was clean. It was all new. And the staff was beyond kind and accommodating. I really enjoyed bonding over Broadway shows with the front desk staff!

I never once felt like we or our belongings weren’t safe. We arrived in town before check in time. They held our bags in a secure holding facility which allowed us to start our visit to New York right away. On the really blustery day we encountered and on our last day when there was not enough time to venture into the city but still a bit of time before we had to leave for the airport, hung out in the lobby. The lobby has comfortable seating, access to outlets to charge your mobile devices, video games, food and of course, fabulous views of Times Square to help you pass the time.

We LOVED room service. We found that eating in and even paying the cost of the food plus the room service fees still was comparable to the cost of eating out in a restaurant somewhere and after days of nothing but people, people and more people, those little quiet retreats to our room to chill out and eat in peace was very welcome. Our favorite eats were the pizza and the chips with guacamole. I’m not sure what they put in that guac but it was GOOOOOOD!

M Social Hotel is within walking distance to Times Square and the theatre district. We were able to easily walk to all the shows we attended, the Museum of Modern Art, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center and the Spyscape Museum. There was a subway station on the corner that connected us to all of the other destinations we visited including the Museum of Natural History, Central Park, the Friends Experience, the Harry Potter Store, the Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial & Museum and Summit One Vanderbilt.

So would we stay there again? Absolutely. We loved it. Would we be able to get our same deal? Mmmm??? Probably not. It is New York after all. Deals are not always easy to come by but I think with a little searching, patience and traveling at the right time of year, one could probably score a pretty decent deal.
